Burnt buildings will be taken down and gardens will be extended; the epicenter of Egypt's revolution is up for remodeling
The Cairo governorate formed a committee to study the different possibilities of remodelling Tahrir Square after the events of Egypt’s January 25 revolution.
The remodelling will involve the destruction of several buildlings that were burnt down including those of the National Democratic Party Headquarters, the Cairo municipality and the National Council for Women. It is expected that in their place parks will be cultivated.
The committee - comprised of relevant government entities - will be running a competition for consultancy firms and selecting the best bid for the job.
