Rooney says his team is ready to recover its first-leg loss to Olympiakos in Piraeus on 25 February

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney believes his team is ready to successfully complete its Champions League campaign when they meet Olympiakos in the second leg of the last round of 16 on Wednesday.

The English champions face a tough mission after their 2-0 loss to their Greek counterparts in the first leg last week, but Rooney hopes that playing at Old Trafford will help his team find a moment of Champions League glory.

“Just leaving for training and looking forward to a big night and another great atmosphere at Old Trafford later,” Rooney wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

“The team is up for it and ready to make it another famous night in the Champions League,” the 28-year old England star added.

Sunday's humbling 3-0 home loss against Liverpool left United 18 points off the pace in the Premier League and 12 points below the top four.

Wednesday's game represents a last opportunity to salvage their season, as Man United has already exited both domestic cup competitions.
