Ahram Online, Sunday 30 Mar 2014
Hamazawy will be on hand to sign his latest book, A Margin for Democracy in Egypt, as well as join a discussion with three of Egypt's most prominent political analysts and media specialists

Renowned Egyptian political analyst and activist Amr Hamzawy will be signing copies of his newly released book A Margin for Democracy in Egypt (Hamish lel Democratiya fi Masr) at El-Sawy Culturewheel in Zamalek on Tuesday, 15 April.

The book was recently published in Arabic by Al-Dar Al-Masriya Al-Lubnaniya – one of the leading publishers in Egypt and the Arab world.

The signing will feature a two-hour discussion on Hamzawy's book with three of Egypt's most prominent writers and media specialists: Ayman El-Sayyad, editor of the magazine Wejhat Nazar, TV anchor Hafez El-Mirazi and writer and economist Wael Gamal. The discussion will be moderated by TV anchor Lilian Dawood.

Hamzawy's writings have played a major role in Egypt's political scene since the January 2011 uprising. An outspoken critic of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamzawy has most recently expressed his fears over the Egyptian army's intervention in politics and as a result, has seen his popularity begin to wane, with less TV programs bringing him on.

Hamzwy is a political science professor at Cairo University and the American University in Cairo. He is also the founder of Masr Al-Horeyya Party, a political party still in its formative stages.

Programme:

Tuesday, 15 April, 8:30pm
