Former parliamentarian and leading member of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party (ESDP) Emad Gadannounced on Wednesday that he is no longer a member of the party.
Gad, who is also a political analystat the Al-Ahram Centre for Strategic Studies, did not reveal the reasons behind his resignation.
The ESDP was founded in the wake of Egypt's 25 January revolution. Officially launched in March 2011, the party combines several groups sharing a liberal and social-democratic outlook that were politically active in the years preceding the revolution.
Hazem El-Beblawi, a founding member of the ESDP, was named Egypt's interim prime minister following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July.
