Public transport officials announce the reopening of a key Nile bus line, in addition to the creation of other river stations, including one in Zamalek
Nile buses in Cairo will now be seen more often, following years of limited performance in which many lines were cancelled and the fleet suffered from a lack of maintenance and investment.
The Nile bus line between Giza district and Warak, to the north, will be operational after seven years of suspension, said Sayed Abdel-Fattah, an official with Cairo's Public Transport Authority (PTA), according to Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.
Other stations will also be added, including one in the upscale neighbourhood of Zamalek, Abdel-Fattah told Al-Ahram.
The river buses will run from 8am until 10pm and on two shifts.
The modernisation plan will also include special offers for schools and universities.
