Libyan opposition member in Cairo, Mohamed Fayez Gebril, views positively the Doha meeting on Libya, which includes Libya’s Transitional National Council

Libyan opposition member residing in Cairo, Mohammed Fayez Gebril, welcomed the international contact group, represented by some 40 nations and international organisations, meeting on the situation in Libya.

Gebril said that the meeting supports the Libyan people and is also an announcement of a unification of the international stance regarding Libya.

The Doha meeting is chaired by Qatar and Britain and, significantly, gives the rebel shadow government, the Transitional National Council, a moment to address the international community after being barred from some previous international meetings.

British Foreign Minister William Hague on Wednesday urged military operations and sanctions against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to continue in order to hasten his departure.
