Egypt’s star winger Mohamed Salah joined the team’s training session on Tuesday but is still doubtful for the Pharaohs' World Cup opener against Uruguay on Friday.

"Salah’s participation won't be decided before Friday," the Egyptian Football Association said on Tuesday afternoon.

Liverpool's top scorer has been undergoing rehabilitation therapy in Spain, having sprained his shoulder ligaments after a challenge from Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos during the Champions League final last month.

Egypt will be making their first World Cup appearance since 1990, when they were eliminated at the group stage.

The seven-time African champions will take on hosts Russia on 19 June.
