Egypt coach Hector Cuper said he has more or less chosen his starting lineup for the World Cup opener against Uruguay on Friday afternoon but won't announce it yet, stressing that he will play to win.

"The technical staff has made a decision regarding almost all of the starting lineups but we will only reveal it on the day of the game," the 62-year-old tactician was quoted as saying by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Wednesday afternoon.

The Argentinean manager was criticized locally for not settling on his final starting eleven choices during all the previous preparatory friendly games before the World Cup as he experimented in all lines.

"We respect the Uruguayans, but we have very serious enthusiastic passionate players who are determined to deliver an excellent match," Cuper stated, explaining that he and the team "will play to win."

Under Cuper, Egypt made it to the most prestigious football tournament after 28-year of absence.

However, the team has not scored many goals due his defensive strategies and lack of strikers in his squad.

The Pharaohs did not win once in their five World Cup preparation friendly games, losing to Portugal, Greece and Belgium, and drew with Kuwait and Colombia.

Mohamed Salah, the team's top-scorer, is still doubtful for the Luis Suarez showdown, as he still undergoes rehabilitation from an shoulder injury.
