VIDEO: Hayy Festival opens with Sudanese Alsarah concert

Hayy Festival opens Thursday 10 July with a performance by Sudanese born singer Alsarah

The annual Hayy Festival organised by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafi opens its ninth season this Ramadan with a performance by Sudanese born singer, songwriter and ethnomusicologist Alsarah acompanied by her band the Nubatones.

She presents East-African retro-pop. Working on various projects, she most recently has been working with The Nile Project and was featured on their debut release, Aswan. She has also collaborated with French producer Débruit on the album Aljwal. With the band Alsarah & the Nubatones, she released two albums Soukura and Slit.
