VIDEO: Egypt activists protest Monsanto's GM seeds

Egyptian activists take part in a global day of action against multinational agricultural corporation Monsanto and their distribution of genetically modified seeds

Egyptian activists join in a global day of action against multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto.

The giant corporation produces and distributes genetically modified (GM) seeds around the world, along with the pesticides and fertilisers needed to help the seeds grow.

Their practices have drawn criticism from activists across the globe, and Egyptians took to the streets to condemn their influence on Egyptian agriculture and to raise street awareness about the dangers of GM foods.

More Power to YOU Egyptians!
I'm so glad to see that Egyptians are standing up to this agriculture vulture Monsanto! Way to go! Keep it up! We're proud of everyone of you that marched today-too bad that we couldn't make it! Monsanto got into India, sold their Frankenseeds to the farmers, promising them a huge harvest. Then there were mass suicides as the farmers couldn't produce healthy crops, even their cattle died from eating the leftover plants. But the Indians stood up, revolted and kicked Monsanto out! They left with their tails between their legs and now they are knocking on Egypt's door! Don't let them in! Don't give them a chance to step foot in Egypt or they'll wreak havoc on your lands and fight you tooth and nail to leave. Their seeds are poison, cause cancer in humans, destroy the land and the farmers lives, all the while pretending that they will save the world from starvation! Please keep trying to get the word out to every Egyptian that you know and don't let your government open the door for them! And thank you Ahram Online for video taping this event and having integrity to put it on your website and getting the word out to Egyptians!
