Pressure group 'Save Alex' protest on Wednesday to demand an end to heritage building demolitions

Dozens of cultural activists, urban planners and others concerned with Alexandria's urban heritage gathered in front of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on Wednesday to send a clear message to the newly-appointed governor of Alexandria of their demands that architectural heritage sites be protected, and that illegal building in the coastal city is stopped.

Parallel protests were also held in Cairo.
