Thousands of military supporters take to Tahrir Square to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1973 War, with many calling on military leader Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to run for president

On the 40th anniversary of the 6 October 1973 War, supporters of the Egyptian military poured into Tahrir Square to voice their approval of the current military leader, General Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Many in Tahrir called on El-Sisi to be the next president of Egypt. A group called Tawahod are gathering signatures to that effect.

Elsewhere in Egypt, deadly clashes erupted as supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi clashed with security forces.

You should not use children
Although Al Ahram might want the military dictatorship and the state of Mubarak prolonged into eternity, it should not use children this way. Pictures never disappear from the internet, and these kids must for the rest of their lives stand out as supporters of some general with sunglasses.
