Actress Hend Sabry has announced that she is establishing her own production company, Salam PROD.

The Egypt-based Tunisian actress revealed her plans at the Cannes film festival, during the the second edition of the Arabic Cinema Centre organised by MAD Solutions in the festival's Film Market.

"I created Salam PROD. in order to produce projects I have always dreamt of, without having to commit to a certain number of annual projects. The company will only produce special projects that I am particularly interested in," Sabry commented as quoted by MAD Solutions.

"This does not mean I will act in every one of these projects, and I am not seeking to compete with other production companies in the Arab world. I haven't turned into a producer or a businesswoman all of a sudden! My main focus will always be on my family, my acting career and my social work in the Arab world."

Sabry is a popular leading lady in the Arab world, well-known for her roles in comedic television series like Azya Atgawiz ("I Want to Get Married") and Embratoreyat Meen? ("Whose Empire?"), as well as films such as Asmaa and Mowaten we Mokhber we Haramy ("A Citizen, an Informant and a Thief".)

MAD Solutions, the company which organises the Arab Cinema Centre, explained in its press release that the platform aims to promote Arab cinema and provide Arab filmmakers a window of opportunity to communicate with other international filmmakers, facilitating networking between production companies and co-producers, distributers and more.
