Ghana captain Gyan Asamoah will have another stint in the United Arab Emirates after joining Dubai-based club Ahli on a loan deal from China's Shanghai SIPG Wednesday.

The 30-year-old joined Ahli after his proposed move to English Championship side Reading on a season-long loan fell through on Tuesday amid reports that he had failed a medical.

Gyan enjoyed a highly-successful four-year spell with UAE side Al-Ain before joining Shanghai last summer, scoring 128 goals in 123 appearances.

His time at Shanghai was disrupted by injuries but he still managed to score 13 goals in 17 league appearances.

Gyan will replace Ahli's Senegalese striker Moussa Sow who agreed a loan deal with his former club Fenerbahce of Turkey.
