The Democratic Front wing of the April 6 Movement are calling for a protest on Friday, 30 September in Tahrir Square to end the emergency law.
The April 6 Movement has named the protest, ‘Friday for the End of the Emergency Law’, and will present have a range of demands: an end to the emergency law; a clear schedule and road map for the transfer of power from the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to an elected civilian president; the fulfilment of demands by striking workers, teachers and doctors; cancellation of the law banning demonstrations; an end to military trials of civilians; clarification of the role of National Security within universities, and the resignation of unelected college heads.
Last Friday, several political forces protested in Tahrir Square against the reactivation of the emergency law by SCAF following the Israeli embassy protests two weeks ago.
