Parliamentary Speaker Fouad Mebazaa was appointed the new interim leader for 60 days until official presidential elections are held, in accordance with Article 57 of the Tunisian constitution -- ruling out any return to power by Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Ben Ali has officially been ousted from power, the country's Constitutional Council decided Saturday in a ruling published by the official news agency TAP.
