Three stolen manuscripts found on a scrap dealer who admitted stealing them during last week's fire in Cairo

The Egyptian police has arrested a scrap dealer attempting to sell three rare books and manuscripts stolen from Egypt’s Scientific Institute that caught fire last week amid ongoing clashes on Qasr El-Aini Street near the People's Assembly. The fire caused extensive damage to the building and its collection.

The man has reportedly confessed taking the manuscripts from the Institute before it was completely burned. The three manuscripts are: a French manuscript one from 1894, an English manuscript from 1939, and another English text from 1939 entitled Rude Statements of a Criminal Council.
