New major discoveries at Marina El Alamein reveal the city’s rich Mediterranean heritage

Egyptian archaeologists have uncovered 18 tombs, a sealed granite sarcophagus, dozens of exceptional funerary objects, and further remains of the ancient city of Marina El Alamein, in a discovery that is shedding new light on the city’s role as a thriving Mediterranean center where Egyptian and Greco-Roman traditions coexisted.
