The Egyptian league association has proposed a transfer cap of LE2 million per player in a bid to curb what it deems the over-spending on footballers whose value is much less than the money offered.
The association, which can only make recommendations to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), said a club should be only allowed to spend up to LE2 million on a single player, whose contract must not exceed LE1.25 million per year.
Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek are usually the main challengers in transfer markets, but their spending powers were heavily affected by the instability of domestic football due to the political turmoil grappling the country.
The association also said fans should be allowed back to the stands in the final four-team phase of the Egyptian Premier League. The entire games of Groups A and B were played behind closed doors due to security concerns.
The association said it will postpone discussions on the possibility of canceling relegation this season.
They had a request to cancel relegation turned down by the EFA, who insisted that all clubs had agreed to the regulations before the season started.
The association, which is headed by Zamalek's controversial chairman Mortada Mansour, also recommended that the final mini-league stage be held on home and away fixtures.
The EFA is not obliged to implement the proposals of the association, which is complaining that it is being marginalised.
"If they do not accept our proposals, why that association was founded? In that case, it should be dissolved because it's useless," Mansour said in a television interview earlier this week.
