Home-made bomb in a plastic bag found in a south Cairo district by a local boy, who was injured in the blast

A 13-year-old boy was injured when an explosive device detonated in the south Cairo district of Helwan, the interior ministry announced on Wednesday evening via a short statement on its Facebook page.

Mohamed Atef Shebal, a student, was playing in the Hadeyek Helwan area when he found what turned out to be a home-made bomb inside a plastic bag, according to the ministry.

The device went off as he was inspecting it.

Shebal has since been transferred to a nearby hospital.
