Ex-PM Nazif referred to the public funds prosecution

Former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and business tycoon Ibrahim Kamel are accused of squandering public funds, among other charges

Former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and ex-National Democratic Party leading member and businessman Ibrahim Kamel — both incarcerated in Tora Prison pending investigation — have been referred Saturday to the public funds prosecution.

Nazif and Kamel, among others, are accused of abusing their political powers to make illegal profits from a maritime container terminal deal in Port Said, which resulted in the squandering of $1.7 bn.

Minister of Transport Mohamed Mansour is one of the defendants.
