Cairo International Film Critics Week will be held for the first time this year, from 10 to 17 November. Submissions will be accepted until 9 September.

With a mission to showcase the best new talents in world cinema, the Cairo International Film Critics Week will be held in parallel with the 36th Cairo International Film Festival, which will be held this year from 9 to 18 November 2014.

Cairo International Film Critics Week is an independent programme organised by The Egyptian Film Critics Association (EFCA), a member of the The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).

Each film submitted may only be either the first or second feature film produced by its director, and must have been produced between 2013 and 2014. For more information about the submission guidelines, click here.

Films that make it through the selection to the competition will be eligible for the Shadi Abd El Salam prize for Best Film (LE 50,000) and the Fathy Farag Prize for Best Artistic Contribution (LE 25,000).

Due mostly to political instability, the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) board of directors decided last year to postpone the festival's 36th round, which was set to take place in November 2013, to November 2014. The festival was also canceled in 2011, following the uprising which led to the ouster of president Hosni Mubarak.
