Japan eased travel warnings and lifted travel restrictions to Egypt on Friday.
Egypt's Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou said the move will benefit the country's cultural tourism as Japanese tourists are projected to return to Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, cities known for their cultural heritage.
Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had expressed his hopes that Japan would take the move in a meeting with Japanese MP Nobuo Kishi in July.
Many countries had issued travel warnings and bans on visiting certain areas in Egypt after violence hit the country following the popularly-backed ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi by the army.
While violent confrontations between protesters and police have largely tapered off, insurgents continue targeting police and army personnel and facilities, mainly in North Sinai.
