The 7th annual Cairo International Women's Festival has announced the opening of the call to submissions for female Egyptian filmmakers to be screened during the festival as part of the National Panorama.

Submissions may be fiction, documentary or animated film projects completed after January 2012.

The festival – which has been running for six consecutive years – will run between 29 November and 4 December 2014.

Copies of submitted films can be delivered between 11am and 3pm to The Culture and Scientific Renaissance Association (15 Al-Mohrany Street, Al-Faggala) until 20 September.

The Cairo International Women's Festival started in 2008 to showcase Arabic and Latin American films from female directors.

Over the last six years, the festival has organised screenings in various other countries including Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Spain, Bolivia, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, Paraguay, Germany and Slovenia.

This year's edition will take place in three venues: the Cairo Opera House, Falaki Theatre and the Goethe Institute.
