The US state department allows non-essential staff and families to return to Egypt and announces that the Cairo embassy staff will resume regular business.
Originally, the evacuation ensued with the unrest of Egypt’s January 25 Revolution, but the embassy had been functioning normally due to the recent improvement of security situation.
The statement also mentioned that the security level in Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea resorts is very good, but requested its citizens to stay away of any protests because of the risk of violence or harassment.
Moreover, the embassy advises Americans to keep their ID’s and cell phone on them at all times.
