Libya rebels: Gaddafi should face bin Laden's fate

Libyan leader Muamar Gaddafi should face the same fate as al Qaeda's Osama bin Laden who was killed in a firefight with U.S. forces

"We are very happy and we are waiting for the next step. We want the Americans to do the same to Gaddafi," said rebel military spokesman Colonel Ahmed Bani on Monday

"We know Osama bin Laden is fighting against us, he is our enemy also," he said, adding that Libyan rebels had evidence al Qaeda sympathisers had been fighting against them.

Gaddafi, battling rebels who control most of eastern Libya, has described the rebels as armed gangs and inspired by al Qaeda.

Bin Laden was killed in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan on Sunday, ending a nearly 10-year worldwide hunt for the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States.
