The Muslim Brotherhood will hold a celebration to honour a number of labour movement activists who played a key role in defending workers' rights in the past years, according to the group's website.
The celebration, to be held next Sunday, will honour a number of both living and deceased leftist activists, according to Yosry Bayoumi, a former Brotherhood member of parliament and labour activist. The list of the honoured activists includes the prominent leftist lawyer Nabil El-Helaly who passed away in 2005 and Ahmed Assayad, a socialist activist who died days after the fall of former president Hosni Mubarak. Also recognised for his efforts is Khaled Ali, a labour lawyer with the Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights.
The minister of manpower, Ahmed El-Borai, is expected to attend the celebration.
