Rami Ashour beats Mohamed Elshorbagy to win the world championship in a five-leg thriller

Egyptian squash player Rami Ashour defeated fellow countryman Mohamed Elshorbagy in the World Championship final on Friday.

World number four Ashour needed 90 minutes to beat Elshorbagy 3-2 in the match in Qatar: 13-11, 7-11, 5-11, 11-5 and 14-12.

The 27-year-old, who recently recovered from an injury, managed to beat world number one Elshorbagy who topped the world ranking for the first time last October.

Ashour and Elshorbagy reached the world championship final in Qatar after beating Frenchman Gregory Gaultier and Nick Matthew of England respectively.
