The 65th Berlin International Film Festival, which will take place between 5 and 15 February 2015, has announced it will dedicate an Homage to Wim Wenders and present him with an Honorary Golden Bear for his lifetime achievements.

Ten films from Wim Wenders’s comprehensive feature and documentary film repertoire will be shown as part of the Homage. The festival will yet announce the exact line-up.

In Egypt, the currently ongoing 7th Panorama of the European Film pays special tribute to Wim Wenders by screening a small retrospective of the artist's work: Paris, Texas as well as The Salt of the Earth and Buena Vista Social Club.

Wim Wenders is one of the icons of German cinema, a filmmaker who already received the Golden Lion (1982) for his film The State of Things, Palme d'Or (1984) for Paris, Texas, Swiss Leopard of Honour (2005), and several other awards and high recognitions. Two of his movies, a documentary Buena Vista Social Club (1999) and 3-D dance film Pina, were nominated for the Academy Awards.
