Egyptian political activists called for a peaceful rally in front of the Saudi embassy’s headquarters Tuesday morning to protest against Saudi Arabia’s alleged interference in local political issues.
The oil-rich country has objected to the detention of toppled Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and his imminent trial on charges of corruption, illicit profiteering and ordering the killing of peaceful protesters in the January 25 Revolution.
Activists also wish to reclaim Mubarak family’s assets in Saudi Arabia and the release of the Egyptian detainees in the Gulf country, among other demands.
