Tunisian authorities arrested two Libyans who had arrived from Algeria and were carrying a bomb, an interior ministry official told AFP Wednesday.
The men, who said they were returning to Libya, were arrested overnight in a hotel in Tunisia's southern town of Tataouine, the official said.
Hundreds of people who have fled the Libyan conflict have taken refuge in the town, which is about 100 kilometres (60 miles) from the Dehiba crossing on the Libyan and Tunisia border.
"They were two Libyans who came from Algeria and wanted to go to Libya," the official said on condition of anonymity. "One of these men had with him a home-made bomb and a suitcase full of food," he said
"Tunisian police, suspicious about their behaviour, arrested them and found the bomb."
The official TAP news agency said the two were were aged around 25.
