France's foreign minister on Saturday condemned the violent demonstrations in Niger sparked by an angry mob protesting against the depiction of the Prophet Mohammed by French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Laurent Fabius said France "condemns the use of violence, today in Niamey (the capital of Niger) and yesterday in Zinder", the country's second city where four died and 45 were injured in protests.
