Cover of Massar Egbari's new album
Alexandria-based band Massar Egbari has revealed its new album cover, and it’s a design by young Egyptian visual artist Ahmed Emad Eldine.
On the cover, Eldine depicts the Cairo tower and Giza pyramids inverted, with the band's members staring out onto a greenish-grey, washed out plane.
Toqa' w Toqoum, literally “You fall and rise”, the band's second studio album, is set to be launched at a concert at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina on 20 February.
Eldine rose to fame last September after he designed the cover of Endless River, the comeback album of English rock band Pink Floyd. At the time, billboards for the iconic band's new release appeared all over London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin and Paris. Before that, the visual artist was practically unknown.
Massar Egabri, whose Arabic name translates to “Compulsory Detour”, was formed in 2005. The indie band entertains a large following, and have performed at a number of festivals in Europe. Their music has been featured in several Egyptian films, including Ibrahim El-Batout's Hawi and Ahmad Abdalla's Microphone.
