Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazy has expressed his excitement over joining Serie B side AC Perugia on loan until the end of the season from Fiorentina.
"I preferred Perugia over many other European clubs to gain experience and to return to my best level. I will be doing my best to inspire the team to return to the top flight," the 23-year-old stated at a press conference Tuesday.
AC Perugia are 13th in the Italian Serie B table with 30 points.
"I wasn't so lucky at Fiorentina. I picked to injuries so that I was sidelined. They are a big team and it is hard to find a place for a youngster like me in it. I was informed of many offers but I chose Perugia to stay in Italy," he stressed.

Hegazy's fellow Egyptian, Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah, 22, has completed a six-month loan move to Fiorentina and he was registered in the European squad too.
"Salah is a tough and fast player. I played with him in the national team for eight years. He was outstanding at Basel and he is capable of returning to his best with Fiorentina," Hegazy said.
Hegazy's previous two seasons have been disrupted by injuries as he ruptured a knee ligament in December 2012 before suffering a similar injury almost a year later while on international duty with Egypt national team.
