Didier Deschamps has extended his contract as France coach until the 2018 World Cup in Russia, French football federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet confirmed on Thursday.

The 46-year-old, who captained France to the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 trophies, was appointed after the 2012 European championships.

After helping France qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Deschamps signed a new deal until after Euro 2016, which will be hosted by France.

France were eliminated in the quarter-finals of last year's World Cup by eventual winners Germany.
