The Comedy drama Birdman has won the Academy Award for best picture.
The film is directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, who also won Best Director award.
Emmanuel Lubezki, the Director of Photography won Best Cinematography.
The film also won best original screenplay.
Birdman stars Michael Keaton as an aging superhero movie star suffering an identity crisis — and seeking redemption by mounting a serious Broadway play.
The film has been hailed for its ensemble cast and its virtuosic camera work, which gives the sensation that the whole movie is shot in one continuous take.
Birdman was nominated for total of nine awards, the highest number of nods received this year, tying with The Grand Budapest Hotel, in both, number of nominations and awards won.
The other nominees for best picture were: "American Sniper"; "Boyhood"; "The Grand Budapest Hotel"; "The Imitation Game"; "Selma"; "The Theory of Everything"; and "Whiplash".
The 87th Academy Awards ceremony took place with Neil Patrick Harris as host at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles.
