Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi has received an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to attend the Arab summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Sky News channel reported on Tuesday.
The annual Arab Summit is to take place at the coastal resort of Sharm El-Sheikh at the end of March.
Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry said in a statement released on Monday that this Arab summit will be the first to convene in Egypt after the toppling of autocrat Hosni Mubarak in 2011 and the toppling of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi two years later.
Earlier, Arab League deputy chief Ahmed Ben Helli said that the March meeting in Egypt would discuss an Egyptian initiative to create a "unified Arab [military] force."
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has called for such a force to confront security threats in the region.
Yemen’s internationally recognised President has been under attack by the Houthi rebels who seized control of the capitalSanaa in September, placing Hadi under house arrest.
Hadi and his cabinet resigned in protest shortly afterwards.
Hadi eventually escaped to the southern port city of Aden where he withdrew his resignation, setting up a base to rally supporters tand declared himself the country’s legitimate leader.
