Cairo misdemeanor court sentenced on Wednesday former minister of legal and parliamentarian affairs, who had served under ousted president Mohamed Morsi, to three years in jail with bail amounting to LE10,000 in absentia.

Mohamed Mahsoub served as a minister under former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi.

He was charged with fraud with a Saudi investor, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Mahsoub was the vice president of the Wasat Islamist Party that supported Morsi.

The minister has played an important role, along with other representatives, between the Muslim Brotherhood and other opposing political groups in attempts to pave the way for dialogues.
