Roma leapfrogged local rivals Lazio into second place in Serie A and the final automatic Champions League spot after Seydou Doumbia's second goal in Italy and a wonderful Alessandro Florenzì solo strike in stoppage time saw them beat in-form Genoa 2-0.
Roma's second straight win moves them up to 64 points, two ahead of Lazio, who travel to relegation-threatened Atalanta later on Sunday.
Genoa, who came into the game with four wins in their last five games, stay fifth on 51 points, one behind their own local rivals Sampdoria in the fight for a Europa League place.
Ivorian attacker Doumbia, who has had a difficult time since moving to the Italian capital from CSKA Moscow in January and scored his first Serie A goal in Roma's 3-0 win at Sassuolo on Wednesday, opened the scoring for Rudi Garcia's side with a fine individual strike ten minutes before halftime after being gifted the ball by Genoa midfielder Facundo Roncaglia.
Roma struggled to hold on to their slender lead but in the final minutes Florenzi raced the length of the field and smashed a powerful shot past Genoa keeper Mattia Perin to send the home fans wild.
