The title holders Ahly will have to do without midfielder Walid Soliman and forward Momen Zakaria in their African Confederation Cup opener.
The Cairo-based club will be hosting Tunisian Club Africain Sunday in round 16 of the Cup.
"Zakaria was injured Sunday, while Soliman is still recovering from his minor foot injury," Ahly football director Wael Gomaa told their official website Thursday.
The record holders of eight CAF Champions League trophies have been downgraded to the Cup after losing to Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco in the round of 16.
