The FIFA presidential election should be postponed in light of the stunning developments on Wednesday which sees football's world governing body embroiled in two corruption investigations, their European counterparts UEFA said.
"UEFA believes that the FIFA Congress should be postponed and that the presidential election (due to take place on Friday) should take place in the coming six months," said UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino, speaking after UEFA's Executive Committee had held an extaordinary meeting ahead of the Europa League final.
Embattled FIFA incumbent Sepp Blatter is due to face just one rival in Friday's election -- Prince Ali bin al Hussein of Jordan.
