Ahly striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher will return to regular trainings on Thursday after recovering from a chest injury.

"I have passed all treatment and rehabilitation stages and I am ready for trainings and matches," the player told the club's official website Monday.

The 30-year-old suffered a knock in the chest during Ahly’s 2-1 comeback victory over Tunisia’s Club Africain in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16 in May.

With hopes of winning their ninth successive Egyptian Premier League trophy fading, Ahly are playing Maqassa 17 June, trailing archrivals Zamalek by nine points with eight games left in the regular season.

However, Ahly will continue defending their African Confederation Cup title in late June when they play Esperance of Tunisia at home in the round of eight as part of Group A.

Group A also includes Stade Malien of Mali and Tunisian sides Esperance and Etoile Sahel.

Ahly qualified to the group stage by defeating Tunisian Club Africain on Sunday.

Zamalek are playing in Group B, competing with Tunisian SfaxienAfrica's Orlando Pirates and AC Leopards of DR Congo.
