Ahly’s young midfielder Karim Bambo tore his anterior cruciate ligament during the 2-0 league win against Maqassa on Wednesday.

"He may have his surgery abroad. Bambo is one important element in the team," Wael Gomaa, the Cairo giants football director told their website.

Bambo, 21, is expected to miss rest of the season as his injury will take up to six months to recover. He is the fourth Ahly player to suffer the same injury this season after Mohamed Nagi 'Gedo', Amr Gamal and Mohamed Hassan.

Bambo started his career at Gouna catching the eye quickly to join the Red Devils last year. He also played with the Under-20 and Under-23 Egyptian national teams.

In Saturday's league game against Gouna, Ahly will welcome back four stars who were missed due to suspension: defender Mohamed Naguib, and midfielders Walid Soliman, Mohamed Hani, and Abdullah El-Said.
