Three people were killed and six others injured in two separate accidents on a coastal highway in northern Egypt late on Thursday, state news agency MENA reported.
On Thursday evening, a private vehicle collided with another car travelling along a sub-route towards a motorway connecting the Mediterranean cities of Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh, northwest of the capital Cairo. Two people were killed and five others wounded in the crash.
In a separate incident, a middle-aged man was killed and another wounded when their car flipped over on the same road.
Traffic accidents claim around 12,000 lives a year in Egypt, according to the World Heath Organisation. Crashes are often blamed on bad driving, poor infrastructure and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
