Egypt is set to celebrate Eid Al-Adha on 23 September, Egypt's Astronomical and Geophysics Institute announced on Monday.

In statements to state news agency MENA, the head of the Astronomical and Geophysics Institute, Abu Ela Mohamed, said that, according to the astronomical calculations, the Day of Arafah would start on 22 September while Eid Al-Adha would start on 23 September.

The Day of Arafah marks the second day of the Islamic pilgrimage rituals at the holy site of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

Day of Arafah precedes the start of Eid Al-Adha in the Islamic world by 24 hours according to the Islamic calendar. 

Eid Al-Adha, which lasts for four days, is the second of two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year.
