Ghanaian fullback Baba Rahman is on the verge of completing his move from Bundesliga side Augsburg to Premier League champions Chelsea as he arrived in London on Tuesday to undergo medical at Stamford Bridge ahead of a £21m move.

Chelsea have reportedly offered the Ghana international a five-year contract.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl said on Tuesday that he is proud that Chelsea are interested in the 22-year-old.

"I would like to continue working with all players, but when you sign someone like Baba from the second division and he’s on Chelsea’s radar 12 months later it does make the coaching staff proud," Weinzierl told German magazine kicker on Tuesday

Baba Rahman, who joined Augsburg from second division side Greuther Fürth last summer, produced some fine displays with his team last season, helping them finish fifth in the Bundesliga.

He was instrumental in Ghana's Nations Cup campaign, helping the Black Stars reach the final against Ivory Cost, who won the title earlier this year with a shootout win following a 0-0 draw.
