Ahly eased past Ittihad El-Shorta 5-0 on Sunday to reach Egypt Cup Semifinal.

Two first-half goals by Abdallah El-Saied and Ramadan Sobhi gave Ahly an early lead, before cementing the victory with three other goals by Moemen Zakariya and two by Emad Meteb after the break.

The large victory is a morale booster for the Cairo giants ahead of their coming clash against Esperance of Tunisia in the group stage of the African Confederation Cup on Saturday.

Ahly's right-winger Ahmed Fathi was forced to leave the pitch 20 minutes into the game due to muscular injury.

After receiving a nice pass from Ghanaian striker John Antw, in-form midfielder Abdallah El-Saied scored the opener for Ahly in the 30th minute.

Five minutes later, promising forward Ramadan Sobhi cleverly escaped the defence to double the score.

Ahly's superb performance continued in the second half as winger Momen Zakariya added the third on minute 58, before seeing striker Emad Meteb score twice on minutes 71 and 87 respectively.

Zamalek, Ahly's rivals and Cup holders, will face Ittihad of Alexandria in the competition's quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Ahly will face Petrojet in the semifinal on 16 or 17 September.
