The student jumped out of the window after an exam which was part of the last stage of secondary education

An Egyptian female student jumped out of a second-story window after an exam on Thursday at a school in Beni Suef governorate, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

Initial investigations indicate that the student tried to commit suicide after she finished a makeup history exam for Egypt's general secondary certificate.

The student from Martyr Essam El-Din School suffered from concussion and bruises. She was taken to Central Fashn hospital in Beni Suef governorate.

The incident occurred during exams known as “Thanaweya Amma” which are the last stage of high school education in Egypt and are highly competitive.

Egypt’s education ministry recently announced that they have received approximately 69,000 complaints regarding the results of 184,000 exams.

Parents in Egypt spend thousands of pounds per year on private tutoring lessons for their children, in attempts to have them admitted into the country’s best universities.
