For the seventh consecutive year, Algeria’s capital Algiers will host the International Festival of Classical Music, an event that for one week -- between 12 and 19 September -- brings together musicians and orchestras from all around the world.

This year the festival will open with a 'three tenors' concert featuring Yanis Benabdallah from Morocco, Hamadi Lagha from Tunisia and Ragaa Eldin from Egypt.

The tenors will sing well known arias from the operas by Rossini, Puccini, Verdi, among other works. In the second part of the evening, the Algeria's National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Amine Kouider will perform Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor.

Egypt will also make its presence felt on 15 September, when the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Chamber Orchestra conducted by Hisham Gabr play compositions by Tchaikovsky and Gabr. This is not the first time for the BA Chamber Orchestra to participate in Algeria's festival. Last year, the orchestra was conducted by Nayer Nagui.

As per annual practice, this year, the festival will also feature a large variety of musicians from around the world: duos, trios, quartets, orchestras and choirs from other Arab countries, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Among the many captivating programming elements, the audience will be able to listen to Choir from the music institute in Syria, Tunisian Symphony Orchestra, Mzansi String Ensemble from South Africa, L'Orchestre Lamoureux from France, Ukrainian National Radio Orchestra, Jilin Symphony Orchestra from China, alongside musicians from Poland, Sweden, Austria, Czech Republic, and Japan, among many others.

In its seventh edition, the festival is managed by Bouazzara Abdelkader, leader of the National Symphony Orchestra since 2001, who has also been the festival's artistic director from its inception in 2009.

In 2014, the number of musicians participating in the festival was over 230, in addition to several conductors and opera singers. Judging on this year's programming, in 2015, the organisers aim for an even larger event.
