The Arsenal international midfielder believes that some big names of Cameroon must stop in order to ring changes in the team and keep their hopes alive in reaching the African Cup of Nations 2012.

“Mathematically we are still in the race even if it is a long shot. Some figures have to stop because it is time now to rebuild this team,” Song told Cameroonian newspaper Actu.

The Indomitable Lions were held to a scoreless draw by Senegal last week and are now third of the group E with five points five behind leaders Senegal with two games remaining.

“We played a good game and we showed the world that Senegal isn’t the storm they were talking about. Unfortunately the gods of football weren’t on our side this night and we couldn’t get the victory,” he added.

Talking about his issues with Captain Samuel Eto’o as they both seem to have a very stressed relationship, Alex – who will turn 24 next September – said that he is only concerned about football.

“I have no problems with my older brother Eto’o, I love my country and my team and want to play for them. We are not here to socialise but to play football.

“The problem in this team is that everybody pretends that things are very nice which is not true. Some people get privileges other not, one day it will stop and everybody will now the truth,” he concluded.
